Girls on the Mic: Media Production & Creative Technology Training for Girls - Women's Audio Mission

542 Natoma Street, San Francisco , San Francisco County 94103

Business Details

Girls on the Mic (GOTM) is a groundbreaking after-school and summer program that provides FREE music production & digital media arts training & mentoring to 1,000+ SF Bay Area middle/high school age girls/yr from the most vulnerable communities. GOTM was designed to address the fact that less than 5% of the people creating all of the sounds, messages & media in our lives are women. The program provides FREE hands-on, project based classes in music production & digital media technology in a professional recording studio that's home to projects from Alanis Morrissette, Radiohead and Timbaland - providing access to musical instruments, creative technology & young women role models/mentors so that girls can learn to amplify their voices. The curriculum is rooted in the California Department of Education & National Core Media Arts Standards. WAM partners with 25+ San Francisco Bay Area schools to deliver the program.
